A low birth weight baby can be born for a variety of reasons. The weight of the child of a minor or adolescent mother is usually low. Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness when the baby is born.
If the mother has diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, malnutrition, anemia, major infections, toxemia, bleeding or similar complications during pregnancy, Then the newborn may lose weight. Babies born with twins or birth defects may also be underweight. Smoking mothers also lose weight during childbirth.
Low birth weight newborns are easily infected. So they need special care. The baby's body temperature may drop after birth. So after birth the baby has to be kept warm all the time. Hold the baby with clean hands and keep the baby's clothes clean, Otherwise there is a fear of infection. If you have trouble breathing, you should immediately clear the saliva inside the mouth and runny nose.
If the baby weighs too little, it should be admitted to the hospital after birth and kept under the care of a pediatrician. For proper nutrition, breast milk as well as nasal tube may need to be fed.
If the baby's temperature drops, he should be kept in an incubator. Shortness of breath occurs when the lungs and other organs of the baby are not turned before the due date. If the condition is very bad, you may have to be admitted to NICU for treatment
